Abstract

One aspect of the invention concerns a water meter apparatus that includes a housing (10), internal water metering and flow control components (12) in the housing and filler material (14) which surrounds the internal components within the housing. The filler material is a foam material which fills the housing around the components and serves both to insulate the internal components thermally and to immobilise them in the housing. In the preferred embodiment the foam material is a polyurethane foam formed in situ in the housing around the internal components but in other embodiments, the foam material may be in the form of premoulded components which are assembled together around the internal components. Another aspect of the invention concerns the method used to manufacture the water meter apparatus.
