Abstract

Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device that has excellent response in a low-temperature range, can eliminate the need to perform temperature compensation, in which a drive voltage is varied depending upon the temperature, and can eliminate defects caused by static electricity without adversely affecting device characteristics. The liquid crystal display device uses a group 3 or group 13 metal liquid crystal compatible particle-added liquid crystal obtained by adding group 3 or group 13 metal liquid crystal compatible particles, containing a group 3 or group 13 metal and at least one type of liquid crystal molecules, to a mixed liquid crystal material obtained by mixing a plurality of types of liquid crystal molecules. The group 3 metal is at least one type of metal selected from the group consisting of Sc, Y, Tb, Gd, Nd, and Ce. The group 13 metal is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Tl, In and Ga. The liquid crystal display device is a display panel using static drive or DUTY drive. In another embodiment, the liquid crystal display device is a display panel using active drive.
