Abstract
The invention relates to a hydraulic chain tensioner having a cylinder housing (2) in which a clamp plunger (1) that can have oil pressure applied thereto is disposed such that it can travel out, and having detent means acting between the cylinder housing (2) and the clamp plunger (1) for preventing retraction in case of oil pressure loss, wherein the detent means is made of a plurality of detent rings (4) stacked in the axial direction and encompassing the clamp plunger (1) under pre-tension around a large diameter area (5), in order to slide over a protrusion (6) onto a smaller diameter area (7), so that retraction is blocked by form-fitting contact against a protrusion (8) on the housing.
