Abstract

Disclosed is a container for medical use, which is composed of a modified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C). This container for medical use is characterized in that the modified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C) is obtained by modifying an unmodified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) with an epoxy compound (B) having a double bond; the amount modified by the epoxy compound (B) is 0.1-10% by mole relative to the monomer units of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A); and at least a part of the modified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C) is crosslinked. The container for medical use is also characterized by having a gel fraction of not less than 3% by mass. Since the container for medical use contains almost no harmful crosslinking agent, a crosslinking agent is hardly dissolved into the content of the container and thus the container has excellent safety. In addition, the container for medical use has gas barrier properties sufficient for use in the medical field, while having heat resistance and hot water resistance that can survive heat sterilization. Deterioration of gas barrier properties after heat sterilization is extremely low in this container for medical use.
