Abstract

A hybrid vehicle comprises an accumulating device (150) for outputting an electric power to drive the vehicle, motor generators (110 and 120) and inverters (210 and 220) acting as power receiving units for receiving an electric power from an external power source outside of the vehicle, to charge it in the accumulating device, and an ECU (170) acting as a control unit set capable of changing in advance the operation mode of the power receiving units prior to the charging operation, thereby to control the power receiving units on the basis of the operation mode. This operation mode includes a first mode, in which priority is given to the charge for a predetermined time period, and a second mode, in which the charge is started at the instant when the power receiving units and the external power source are connected, irrespective of the predetermined time period. Thus, it is possible to provide the vehicle and the charging cable, which can execute the charge by selecting the charging mode while reflecting the intention of the user, with troubling the worker in the least.
