Abstract

A rotating machine which can suppress increase in manufacturing cost. The rotating machine (2) comprises a plurality of windings (L1-L3), and a switch circuit (1). The plurality of windings (L1-L3) have ends on one side connected with a plurality of first ends (P11-P13), respectively, and ends on the other side connected with a plurality of second ends (P21-P23), respectively. The switch circuit (1) has switches (SG1-SG3). The switches (SG1-SG3) are connected, respectively, between the ends on one side of the windings (L1-L3) and a neutral point (N). When all the switches (SG1-SG3) are turned on, the windings (L1-L3) can function as the armature winding. When polyphase AC power is supplied from a polyphase AC power supply (E1) to the first ends (P11-P13) and all the switches (SG1-SG3) are turned off, the windings (L1-L3) can function as the input reactor for a power converter (3).
