Abstract

A fuse resistor which can enhance quick moving performance by utilizing the stored urging force of a spring and can make the spring force constant at the time of assembly, while exhibiting sufficient protection effects. A resistor element (1) is provided with conductive cap portions (2a, 2b) at the both ends of a resistor, and a lead wire (3a) is fixed to penetrate an insulating substrate (5). A coil spring (4) is fixed such that one arm (4a) penetrates the insulating substrate (5), and the coil portion (4c) is inserted into a recess (5b) of the insulating substrate (5) so that the fixing direction is regulated. The distal end of the other arm (4b) of the coil spring (4) is secured to the cap portion (2b) by a low melting point metal (6), while resisting against its elastic force. When the fuse resistor is inserted into the circuit and an over current flows through the fuse resistor, the cap portion (2b) is heated to melt the low melting point metal (6), thus disconnecting the circuit.
