Abstract

This invention provides a process for producing a glass molded product, which can efficiently produce a glass molded product having a large vertical width of a side molding face while preventing breaking or chipping of the glass molded product and, at the same time, effectively preventing sticking between the side molding face and a side mold. The production process comprises a heating step of heating a lower mold, an upper mold, and a side mold to respective predetermined temperatures, a dropping step of dropping molten glass droplets, and a pressing step of pressing the dropped molten glass droplets with the mold. The glass molded product satisfies 0.6D ≤ h ≤ 1.5D wherein h represents the width of the side molding face in a vertical direction; and D represents the diameter of a circle having the same area as the area of a horizontal section of the glass molded product in a vertical central part of the side molding face. The temperature of the side mold immediately before dropping of the molten glass droplets is Tg - 250˚C ≤ Ts ≤ Tg - 105˚C wherein Ts represents the temperature of the side mold, ˚C; and Tg represents the glass transition temperature of the molten glass droplets, ˚C.
