[15] Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of the compact foldable receiving box in accordance with this invention, in its set-up status.
[16] Fig. 2 shows an exploded, opened view of the box shown in Fig. 1.
[17] Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 show top views of the box shown in Fig. 1 in the course of being folded.
[18] Fig. 5 to Fig. 7 show perspective views of the setting-up process of said box from the folded status shown in Fig. 3.
[19] As shown in the Figures 1 to 7, in the compact foldable receiving box in accordance with this invention, a square bottom panel member(lθ) is formed with square side panel members(20, 30, 40, 70) connecting at the fold lines(12, 13, 14, 17). In particular, the first square side panel member(20) and the second square side panel member(30) are in connection with the square bottom panel member(lθ) at the fold lines(12, 13) which are a pair of opposite edges of the bottom member(lθ), and the third square side panel member(40) and the fourth square side panel member(70) are in connection with the square bottom panel member(lθ) at the fold lines(14, 17) which are another pair of opposite edges of the bottom member(lθ). The material and internal structure of the square bottom panel member(lθ) and said side panel members(20, 30, 40, 70), and the cover member(lOO), which will be described latter, may vary and can be selected from various known, commercial materials, for example, corrugated cardboard, plastic panel, honeycomb panel, or fabric composite boards, according to the intended use.
[20] In the drawings, the triangular extension panel members(50, 60; 80, 90) are connected in foldable manner with said third and fourth side panel members(40, 70) at the two pairs of fold lines(45, 46; 78, 79) which are adjacent to said fold lines(14, 17); and joint and separation means(DA) which allow to maintain said side panel members(20, 30, 40, 70) in vertical statuses when the side panel members are erected upright at the fold lines are provided.
[21] Various connecting methods can be applied to the joints between the square bottom panel member(lθ) and said side panel members(20, 30, 40, 70), and between the third and fourth side panel members(40, 70) and the extension panel members(50, 60; 80, 90). These foldable joints, for example, can be formed with grooves, or by cutting-off or half-cut and applied with flexible adhesive sheets on the fold lines(12, 13, 14, 17, 45, 46, 78, 79). Furthermore, the fold lines may also be cut-off lines, thus, they can be formed in a range of methods such as half-cutting, joint with flexible sheet (preferably giving decorative effect, too), or any other known methods which enable both folding and connecting. In addition, the fold lines are preferably so formed as to be suitable for the folded status, to be described latter, and set-up status for receiving things, but not for any other statuses.
[22] In addition, the joint between the third and fourth side panel members(40, 70) can be implemented by providing connecting panel members(55, 65; 85, 95) which are attached and fixed on the third and fourth side panel members(40, 70), or by the joint methods described above at the fold lines(51 61, 81, 91). In more particular, in order to set up the first and second square side panel members(20, 30) vertical to the square bottom panel member(lθ) at the fold lines(12, 13), while the third and fourth side panel members(40, 70) have been erected vertically at the fold lines(14, 17), the
extension panel members(50, 60; 80, 90) are connected to the first and second square side panel members(20, 30) at the fold lines(51, 61, 81, 91) which are the latera where the fold lines(45, 46, 78, 79) of the extension panel members(50, 60; 80, 90) and the fold lines(12, 13, 14, 17) of the square bottom panel member(lθ) join.
[23] The joint and separation means(DA) can be implemented with any known methodologies, preferably in flat configuration such as magnets, velcro fastener, elastic snap joint, or clip, that can hold the side panel members upright when set up and then can be detached by external force.
[24] A cover panel member(lOO) can be provided on the outer edge of the first square side panel member(20) with the fold line(102) between them to close the opposite side of the square bottom panel member(lθ) while the said side panel members(20, 30, 40, 70) have been erected upright to form a box. When the cover panel member(lOO) is in closed status, its closing patch member(l 10) will be folded to seal the box at the fold line(l 11). In order to maintain the sealing status, another joint and separation means(DA) can be provided on the closing patch member(l 10).
[25] The compact foldable receiving box in accordance with this invention is stored, when not in use, folded flat as shown in Fig. 3 and Fig. 4. In order to open up and set up the box for use, if starting from the status shown in Fig. 4, unfold the cover panel member(lOO) and closing patch member(l 10) as shown in Fig. 5, and unfold and erect the third and fourth side panel members(40, 70) upright as shown in Fig. 6, then the first and second square side panel members(20, 30) are lifted upright by the extension panel members(50, 60; 80, 90), and then the extension panel members(50, 60; 80, 90) are fastened using the joint and separation means(DA) on the connecting panel members(55, 65; 85, 95) to form a receiving box as shown in Fig. 7.
[26] In order to fold the compact foldable receiving box assembled in above described method for convenient storage, firstly, separate the extension panel members(50, 60; 80, 90) from the connecting panel members(55, 65; 85, 95) by applying force to separate the joint and separating means(DA), secondly, open the first and second side panel members(20, 30) outward and fold the third and fourth side panel members(40, 70) inward on to the square bottom panel member(lθ), then the whole product will be in the status shown in Fig. 5 or Fig. 4, which is flat suitable for storage. If it is desired to reduce the area even further, fold the cover panel member(lOO) and the closing patch member(l 10) onto the third and fourth side panel members (40, 70). This will reduce the length(L) and the entire area will be minimized to (W x Ll).
[27] As described above, this invention enables simple and fast setting-up for use and folding for storage in flat condition, taking minimal storage area whose width not exceeding the width of the bottom panel member(lθ).
[28] The life span also can be extended by reinforcing the fold lines(12, 13, 14, 17; 45,
46; 51, 61; 78, 79; 81, 91), when worn by frequent folding and unfolding, with adhesive film.
[29] Fig. 8 shows a perspective view of the receiving box in accordance with this invention to present a variant use. As shown in the Fig. 8, the receiving boxes in accordance with this invention can be stacked in several layers with their cover panel members(lOO) on front side and open downward, as illustrated in the Fig. 8, or open upward with the first side panel members(20) on the top. In addition, though not illustrated in the drawings, the closing patch member(l 10) can be attached on the exterior, in stack applications, when the upper boxes are less in depths
[30] In addition, as a matter of common knowledge, handles or gripping grooves can be formed on large boxes or those for heavy things for transportation convenience, and inspection holes or transparent windows can be formed to allow looking inside.
[31] In addition, movable partitioning walls can be provided on the bottom panel member for storage by classification.
[32] In addition, the material can be treated with antibiotic substance to prevent propagation of unwanted microorganisms.
[33] In summary, the compact foldable receiving box in accordance with the present invention can be used conveniently as a storage for clothes and other smaller articles in homes or as a storage and/or a transportation means in factories, by virtue of its simple and easy setting up and unfolding, and small space requirement for storage.
