Abstract

It is an object to provide a color correction circuit and an image display device using the same that are configured to carry out an optimum color correction of a video signal by enhancing or suppressing specific hue in response to a characteristic of a video from its brightness information and a chromaticity histogram and to enable a color correction of arbitrary hue thereby correcting a color characteristic of a display device. For this purpose, the present invention is characterized in comprising a detecting unit (11-14) that detects brightness information of an input video signal and a chromaticity histogram including chroma saturation and hue, and a control unit (15, 16) that controls the color reproduction of the video signal in accordance with the brightness information and the chromaticity histogram detected by the detecting unit.
