Abstract

 エンジンとEGRシステムとを冷却する冷却システムに冷却水を圧送するウォータポンプを正常に駆動することができない故障を判定して冷却異常フラグFを設定し、冷却異常フラグFが値1のとき、即ち、ウォータポンプの故障によって冷却システムによりEGRシステムを還流する排気を冷却することができない冷却異常が生じているときには(S110)、EGRバルブの開度を制限してエンジンを運転制御する(S140~S160)。これにより、エンジンをより適正に運転することができる。もとより、冷却異常が生じていないときには、EGR実行条件の成立に応じてエンジンの吸気側に排気を供給しながらエンジンを運転することができる(S110~S150)。
