Abstract

An image display device of the present invention comprises an image decomposition unit (11) which decomposes an input image into a first multiple primary color image, an image conversion unit (12) which converts the first multiple primary color image into a second multiple primary color image that eliminates the first multiple primary color image, a multiplexing unit (13) which allocates a first to a N-th planes of the first multiple primary color image and a (n+1)th to a 2N-th planes of the second multiple primary color image to a first to a 2N-th planes of a third multiple primary color image in a first period, allocates a first to a N-th planes of the second multiple primary color image and a (n+1)th to a 2N-th planes of the first multiple primary color image to a first to a 2N-th planes of a fourth multiple primary color image in a second period, and outputs the third and fourth multiple primary color images in time division, a multiple primary color display device (14) which combines the images of the first to the 2N-th planes of the third and fourth multiple primary color images with the first to the 2N primary colors and displays it, and a light shutter (15) with which only the first to the N-th primary colors pass in the first period and only the (n+1)th to the 2N-th primary colors pass in the second period.
