Abstract

The invention relates to a backpack (1) comprising an envelope (2), a frame (3a, 3b, 5) connected to the rear face (7) of the envelope in order to form a dorsal plane (9) on which a pair of straps (lia, Hb) is slidingly mounted, and a belt assembly (13) having a lower portion (15) adapted to be maintained about the waist. Linking means (17, 19) are provided between the belt assembly (13) and the pair of straps (lia, Hb), the entire system defining a dorsal maintaining member (21) arranged so as to allow the sliding mounting of the belt assembly relative to the dorsal plane. Suspension bearing means (23) are provided between the lower portion (15) of the belt assembly and the lower portion (25) of the dorsal plane for retaining the envelope while maintaining the dorsal plane against the back and dampening the relative movements of the envelope relative to the dorsal maintaining member.
