Abstract
The invention relates to a cooling device for use following the galvanisation of a strip material (M) passing through a metal galvanising bath, the device comprising a cooling cell in the shape of a hollow chamber (5) and two side regions extending between two porous surfaces, on either side of a central region along which the strip passes, a cooling gas being introduced under pressure into the porous surfaces and circulated via said surfaces along both sides of the strip and then discharged via the central region of the cooling cell (5). According to the invention, each cooling cell (5) comprises means (7) for extracting at least most of the discharged gases at the outlet of the central region of the cooling chamber (5), said extraction means being connected to pressurised means (60) in the side regions of the chamber (5) via at least one recirculation system (6), which is provided with a means (8) for cooling the extracted gases before they are introduced under pressure into the side regions of the cooling cell (5).
