Abstract

There is described a gas turbine engine (10) comprising a gas inlet (12), a compressor (14), a combustion chamber (16), and a gas outlet (20) at or near the periphery of the combustion chamber. The gas inlet (12) is located at or near an axis of rotation (AA') of the gas turbine engine. The compressor (14) comprises a plurality of mutually spaced stacked surfaces (30,32,34) each having a central aperture (60) operably coupled to the gas inlet (12) and aligned with the axis of rotation. The stacked surfaces are arranged to act as Tesla discs as they co-rotate about the axis of rotation (AA' ). The combustion chamber (16) has walls integrally formed from peripheral portions (64) of the stacked surfaces.
