Abstract

Disclosed is a method for simply producing an α-methyl-β-ketoester under mild reaction conditions. This method is applicable to mass-synthesis. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing an α-methyl-β-ketoester, which comprises a process wherein a β-ketoester compound is reacted with at least two methylating agents in the presence of an inorganic base.
