Abstract

A small-size light source unit having three-color laser light sources and emitting one light beam by combining three-color laser beams. The light source unit comprises a first light source, a second light source for emitting a light beam having a wavelength shorter than that of the light beam emitted from the first light source, a third light source for emitting a light beam having a wavelength different from those of the light beams emitted from the first and second light sources, and a light beam combining section for combining the light beams emitted from the first to third light sources into one light beam. The first and second light sources are arranged side by side adjacently to each other or apart at some distance. The optical axes of the adjacent light beams emitted from the first to third light sources are parallel to one another. The optical axes of the first to third light sources intersect a plane perpendicular to the optical axes of the light beams at first to third points forming a triangle, respectively. The first inner angle at the first point of the triangle and the second inner angle at the second point thereof are approximately right angles or less.
