Abstract

To provide a process for manufacturing a pneumatic tire realizing reduction of dynamic imbalance and enhancing of durability. A pneumatic tire with a projection at its buttress area is manufactured according to the following process. A side wall rubber (17) of 10,000 to 12,000 MPa % tensile product after vulcanization is attached to the outer side of a carcass ply (12). A molding drum (1) is operated so as to make a diameter enlargement. Thereafter, a belt ply (19) and a tread rubber (18) of 15,000 to 18,000 MPa % tensile product after vulcanization are attached to the outer side of an area of the carcass ply (12) corresponding to crown portion, thereby obtaining a green tire (G). A strip rubber member (21) of 15,000 to 18,000 MPa % tensile product after vulcanization is attached to the buttress area (B) of the green tire (G) to thereby form a circular projection (22). The green tire (G) is vulcanization molded by the use of a metal mold.
