Abstract

Provided is a light emitting element wherein a light taking out side of a light emitting section is sealed by a multilayer sealing film having at least one organic layer. The light emitting element is characterized in that at least one refractive index adjusting layer is included in the laminated layer of the multilayer sealing film, for adjusting the refractive index of the multilayer sealing film. A light emitting element manufacturing method is also provided. The method is provided for manufacturing the light emitting element wherein the light taking out side of the light emitting section is sealed by the multilayer sealing film having at least one organic layer. The method is characterized in forming at least one diffractive index adjusting layer in the laminated layer of the multilayer sealing film, for adjusting the refractive index of the multilayer insulating film. The light emitting element incorporates a function of controlling directional dependency of light taking out intensity, without increasing the occupying space.
