Abstract
Method of treating contaminated waste water, having the following steps: cooling the waste water to form ice (4) in a refrigerating machine (2), filtering the ice (4), with concentrated waste-water filtrate (5) being separated off from the ice residue (4) in the process, using the ice residue (4) for cooling purposes, using the waste-water filtrate (5) to precool the waste water which is to be treated, this step being carried out in a heat exchanger (8) used for controlling the temperature in buildings and/or by means of a heat exchanger (7) which precools the waste water which is to be treated, heating the waste-water filtrate (5) utilizing the heat emitted from the refrigerating machine (2), and treating the waste-water filtrate, with harmful substances being separated off in the process.
