Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus for impregnating a web as it passes through. In impregnating apparatuses, the web often tears. In the case of the known apparatuses, in normal operation, it is very difficult for the web to be picked up again, and this results in considerable disruption and thus in production losses. The invention avoids these adverse effects in that directing plates are arranged on at least part of the cooling rollers, in that supporting means are arranged in each case between two adjacent cooling rollers, and in that a cutting-action diverter for the web is arranged downstream of one of the final cooling rollers, the cutting-action diverter being suitable for severing the web in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal extent.
