Abstract

A method of treating arsenic contained in nonferrous smelting intermediate products, especially a method that in the treatment of arsenic in its diarsenic trioxide form, satisfies the leaching standard (in accordance with Notice No. 13 from the Environment Agency), realizing excellence in filtration performance and easy formation of stable scorodite at high reproducibility without any cumbersome operation. There is provided a method of treating diarsenic trioxide, comprising the leaching step of adding water and alkali to a nonferrous smelting intermediate product containing diarsenic trioxide to thereby obtain a slurry and heating the slurry to thereby leach arsenic; the liquid regulation step of adding an oxidizing agent to the leachate so as to oxidize the trivalent arsenic to the pentavalent arsenic, thereby obtaining a regulated liquid; and the crystallization step of converting the arsenic of the regulated liquid to scorodite crystal.
