Abstract
A bead insulation rubber composition capable of providing a pneumatic tire excelling in uniformity. The feature thereof is as follows. The composition contains a vulcanizing agent and is vulcanizable. The JIS hardness A thereof at the unvulcanized stage is in the range of 70 to 99 at room temperature while that at the vulcanized stage is in the range of 90 to 99 at room temperature. The Mooney viscosity thereof at the unvulcanized stage is 60 or below at the temperature during the bead wire coating step. At the unvulcanized stage, as the hardness at room temperature is high, any external force applied to bead core in its twisting direction during the production process would have less impact upon the array of bead wire, thereby attaining exertion of the performance to be naturally exerted. Further, by realization of an appropriate hardness after vulcanization, satisfactorily high performance can be exerted in the final application to a pneumatic tire. Still further, by regulation of the Mooney viscosity at the unvulcanized stage to 60 or less, excellence is ensured in the moldability and handleability at the unvulcanized stage.
