Abstract

A photovoltaic cell including an electrolyte containing an iodine-based redox species, a porous film including titania nanoparticles adapted to make intimate contact with the redox species and a dye adsorbed on the surface of the porous film is disclosed. The photovoltaic cell further includes a cathode having catalytic titania particles disposed in a conductive carbon layer including carbon black particles as well as fine, spheroidal graphite particles and expanded graphite particles.
