Abstract
A lens unit and an imaging device having the lens unit. The lens unit has a lens holder (2) and a lens (1) placed in the lens holder (2). A holding section (3) for fixing the outer periphery of the lens (1) is formed at the lens holder (2). The outer periphery of the lens (1) is fixed to the holding section (3), and a portion having a thickness less than the thinnest section within the effective diameter of the lens is formed on the outer periphery of the lens (1). The construction simplifies the assembly process of the lens unit and prevents thermal deformation of the lens and positional displacement of the lens in the optical axis direction that are caused by thermal expansion of the lens at high temperature. As a result, degradation in optical characteristics of the lens unit and the imaging device is prevented.
