Definitions
- This invention relates to toothpicks and wishbone.
- the invention integrates a wishbone innovation including the tradition related to the breaking of a traditional wishbone (the making of a wish) with a toothpick innovation.
- the Wishpick can be used as an innovative substitute for a natural wishbone and/or as an innovative substitute for a toothpick.
- the invention will be described hereinafter with reference to this application.
- the Wishpick in accordance with its present innovation can be envisaged as a promotional item, marketing gimmick, medium for advertising, gift, party item and as an innovative and novel alternative to a traditional wishbone and/or toothpick.
- the wishbone known in anatomy as the furcula, is a sternum bone found in the front body of birds and is formed by the fusion of two clavicles. Shaped like the letter Y, it is used as an attachment point for the wing muscles. It is so named because of the tradition and is also a sign of good luck.
- the tradition of the wishbone is performed with a cooked wishbone where two people pull on each side of such a bone and when it breaks, the one who gets the larger wishbone part is said to have a wish granted. This is a very well known tradition and is time and time again present at many tables around the world where food is consumed. Unfortunately there is only one wishbone in every bird, meaning only two people can engage in the tradition. Toothpick may refer to:
- a toothpick is generally comprised of a straight and thin solid body made of wood.
- a toothpick usually has one or two sharp conical pointed ends which are used to insert between the crevices of the teeth to remove particles.
- This innovation relates to the successful combination of a wishbone innovation and a toothpick innovation into one product, the Wishpick.
- the Wishpick provides a practical use of a toothpick and the fun use of a wishbone.
- the present innovation exists in the combination of a wishbone innovation with a toothpick innovation comprising a rigid plastic wishbone shaped model consisting of a left leg-toothpick and a right leg-toothpick connecting at their inner ends to a centre adjoining portion, the outer ends opposite to a centre adjoining portion of the left leg- toothpick and right leg-toothpick are sharpened equally in a conical shape forming pointed ends that are to be used as toothpicks and the left leg- toothpick and right leg-toothpick, closer to a centre adjoining portion have semi cylindrical indents that serve individually as breaking points when the Wishpick is broken in the tradition of a wishbone.
- This element of the present innovation includes a wishbone shaped model, consisting of a left leg-toothpick and a right leg-toothpick which both connect at their inner ends to a centre adjoining portion of the Wishpick.
- the first innovation exists as the left leg-toothpick and right leg- toothpick, closer to a centre adjoining portion have semi cylindrical indents that serve individually as breaking points when the Wishpick is broken in the tradition of a wishbone.
- the second innovation exists as said Wishpick provides three possible novel outcomes when broken.
- a Wishpick In the practice of the breaking of a traditional wishbone, two people pull on each side of such a bone and when it breaks the one who gets the larger wishbone part is said to have a wish granted. Thus leaving two outcomes, either one person has a wish granted, or the other person has a wish granted.
- a Wishpick When a Wishpick is broken as in the traditional manner as described above it provides three outcomes as follows: Outcome: 1 The Wishpick's left leg-toothpick breaks off at said semi cylindrical indent, leaving only one person, the one with the larger part of the Wishpick to have a wish granted.
- Outcome:2 The Wishpick's right leg-toothpick breaks off at said semi cylindrical indent leaving the other person, the one with the larger Wishpick part to have a wish granted.
- Outcome 3 The Wishpick breaks off at both semi cylindrical indents of the left leg-toothpick and right leg- toothpick at once, if this occurs while two people engage in the breaking of the Wishpick it leaves the Wishpick separated into three pieces and neither of the two people participating in the breaking of the Wishpick get granted a wish as both parties are left with similar parts of either a left or right leg-toothpick and the centre adjoining portion is left independently.
- Toothpick Innovation- includes the right leg-toothpick and left leg-toothpick.
- the left leg-toothpick and right leg-toothpick that connect at their inner ends to a centre adjoining portion are novel toothpicks because their outer ends are sharpened equally at the ends in a conical shape. This forms points that are used as toothpicks for removal of particles therein by insertion between crevices of the teeth.
- the first innovation of the toothpick is that said right leg-toothpick and left leg-toothpick are curved instead of straight, thus providing easier access to hard to reach particles in the teeth.
- it provides the practicality of two toothpicks in one product.
- the ideal material of plastic that the Wishpick can be constructed of allows the toothpicks to be reusable as the plastic will not wear or tear like traditional wooden toothpicks.
- the Wishpick may be made of any suitable material such as rigid plastic or the like, wood or the like, or any rigid edible material or the like.
- the Wishpick's right leg-toothpick and left leg-toothpick closer to a centre adjoining portion have semi cylindrical indents, which serve as breaking points. This makes the breaking of the Wishpick more unpredictable as it is unknown which leg-toothpick(s) will break.
- the Wishpick may be moulded, cast, embossed or printed, etc. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
- Figure 1 is the Front View of the model with details of the present innovation.
- Figure 2 is the Back View of the model with details of the present innovation.
- Figure 3 is the Right Side View of the model with details of the present innovation.
- Figure 4 is the Left Side View of the model with details of the present innovation.
- a Wishpick (1) comprising a rigid plastic wishbone shaped model consisting of a left leg-toothpick (2) and a right leg-toothpick (3) connecting at their inner ends to a centre adjoining portion (4), the outer ends opposite to a centre adjoining portion (4) of the left leg-toothpick (2) and right leg-toothpick (3) are sharpened equally in a conical shape forming pointed ends (5) (6) that are to be used as toothpicks and the left leg-toothpick and right leg-toothpick (2) (3), closer to a centre adjoining portion (4) have semi cylindrical indents (7) (8) that serve individually as breaking points when the Wishpick is broken in the tradition of a wishbone.
