Abstract
[PROBLEMS] An electromagnetic clutch in which an air gap between an armature and a rotor can be more easily adjusted than that of the electromagnetic clutch of the patent document 1. An air gap adjustment method for the electromagnetic clutch is also provided. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The electromagnetic clutch has an armature boss (1) connected by serrations or splines to an end of a main shaft (100) of a rotary device, an armature (4) elastically supported by the armature boss (1) and movable relative to the armature boss (1) in the direction in which the main shaft (100) extends, an adjustment nut (5) threaded into a female thread (1b), formed in the armature boss (1), to abut against an end surface of the main shaft (100) and locked against rotation, a bolt (6) or a nut for fixing the adjustment nut (5) to the main shaft (100), and a rotor (7) supported by a housing (101) of the rotary device so as to be rotatable about the main shaft (100) and facing the armature (4) with an air gap (S) in between.
