Abstract

A ring binder in which stacks of papers are bound and/or unbound by only shift of rings without removal of the entire ring assembly from a filing case. The ring binder generally has a ring (30) and a base (20) to bear the ring thereon for linear movement, the ring including a curved member (302), a pivotal member (306) installed to extend from any one end of the curved member inwardly of the curved member, and an engaging member (310) installed to extend from the other end of the curved member inwardly of the curved member. The pivotal member of the ring forms a connector (312) to join multiple curved members together while the base has a length extending across a cluster of joined pivotal members of the rings. Lengthwise movement of the base allows the ring opening. To this end, the base is made at widthwise opposite sides thereof with cuts (206, 212), one cut (206) of which is to accommodate the innermost end-ward portion of the pivotal member of the ring and the other cut (212) gets the engaging member to move past.
