Abstract

The plasma display panel has first and second substrates arranged opposite to each other with a discharge space interposed therebetween. The plasma display panel has a display area of image constituted by cells capable of emitting light through electric discharge. On the first substrate, there are provided a first electrode for generating of electric discharge and a glass-made first dielectric layer covering the display area of the first electrode. A second dielectric layer is provided on the first dielectric layer at its position covering the display area, and a second electrode is provided on the second dielectric layer. For example, the second dielectric layer is formed of a dielectric material superior to the first dielectric layer in the resistance to etching treatment at forming of the second electrode. Accordingly, while inhibiting any increase of time for formation of a thick dielectric layer interposed between first layer electrode and second layer electrode, there can be attained prevention of image quality deterioration.
