Abstract

The invention relates to an electric power generating unit utilizing the kinetic energy of water for use in flowing waters, comprising an energy absorption unit (1), main shaft (2), power generator and diverting module (4). The invention is characterized in that the energy absorption unit (1) is modular in construction, containing base modules (5) located side by side in a variable configuration and preferably a diverting module (4), while the electric power generating unit suitable for submerged operation consists of a downstream generator (3) of variable frequency and voltage, the modules (4, 5) feature blades (6) that transform the water's kinetic energy into rotational energy, the energy absorption unit (1) is connected via a main shaft (2) to the generator (3), while the generator's (3) output is connected, via a controller unit (7), to the consumer grid (8) and/or an electrolytic unit suitable for utilizing off-peak power.
