Abstract

A simplified method in which in the coating of a porous inorganic material, there can be imparted excellent finish, water absorption preventing capability, etc.; and a simplified method in which there can be applied an excellent water absorption preventing performance, antifouling property, etc. onto ceramic tile surfaces while ensuring exertion of the existing characteristics of tile surfaces. There is disclosed a method of coating including the step of coating a surface of inorganic material with a surface treating liquid (A), characterized in that the surface of inorganic material contains a porous inorganic material, and that the surface treating liquid (A) contains 0.1 to 50 wt.% of alkoxysilane compound and 50 to 99.9 wt.% of solvent, and that the alkoxysilane compound contains 90 wt.% or more of alkylalkoxysilane compound of 2 or less condensation degree wherein the alkyl has 3 to 12 carbon atoms while the solvent contains 90 wt.% or more of aliphatic hydrocarbon.
