A right under type back light (100) for a liquid crystal display device is provided with a hot cathode fluorescence lamp (10) and a housing (20), only two hot cathode fluorescence lamps (10) are received in the housing, and the hot cathode fluorescence lamp (10) is comprised of a substantially linear bulb (12) and a film (14).
