Abstract

In a melt blow device (2) comprising a melt line (17) disposed in a nozzle bank (2), spinnarets, and a mouthpiece for the production of filaments formed from a melt and comprising an air supply device comprising one air gap (9) disposed along the mouthpiece on each side of the mouthpiece, the necessary process air may be supplied to the air gap (9) via a supply channel (4) running in the direction of the air gap (9). The supply channel (4) is connected to the air gap (9) via a plurality of air conduits. At least one balancing chamber (6) is provided between the supply channel (4) and the air gap (9), said balancing chamber connecting multiple air conduits (5, 7, 8) to one another. The first air conduits (5; 8) empty into second air conduits (8; 7) and the air conduits (5, 8; 8, 7) have different cross sections. A melt line (17) and/or the air supply device are partially disposed in the nozzle bank (2) and machine beam (3), respectively, and empty on the bottom of the nozzle bank (2) or the top of the machine beam (3) and are detachably connected to one another. According to the method according to the invention, a pressure and flow balancing is conducted for the even flow of a stream of air out of the air gap (9) in that the stream of air is separated multiple times and recombined.
