 発光デバイスの劣化現象を抑制するために、有機EL素子10によって発光部を形成する発光デバイスにおいて、第1絶縁膜3の最外縁部E3を覆うように、第2電極5上に第2絶縁膜6を形成し、第1絶縁膜3の最外縁部E3を覆うように、第2絶縁膜6上に有機材料層7を形成し、第1絶縁膜3の最外縁部E3を覆うように、有機材料層7上に無機バリア層8を形成し、第2絶縁膜6、有機材料層7、無機バリア層8を全て覆う接着剤層9を介して基板1に封止部材10を接着した封止構造を備える。
