[13] According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of providing sensor network services, the method comprising: reading information stored in a data storage medium; generating a query message including the information, and transmitting the query message to a code data providing device in order to request position data of sensor network services; receiving a response message including the position data of the sensor network services corresponding to the information, from the code data providing device; and connecting to a sensor network server corresponding to the position data of the sensor network services and requesting the sensor network server for sensor network services. Mode for Invention
[14] Hereinafter, a method and apparatus for providing sensor network services according to the present invention will be described in detail by explaining exemplary embodiments of the invention with reference to the attached drawings.
[15] FIG. 1 is a structural view of a schematic configuration of a system for providing sensor network services, according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[16] Referring to FIG. 1, the system, according to the present embodiment, includes a sensor network 100, a sensor network server 110, a mobile communication terminal 120, a data storage medium 130 and a code data providing device 140.
[17] Information obtained in the sensor network 100 is transmitted to the sensor network server 110 via a network, such as a mobile communication network, the Internet, or the like.
[18] The sensor network server 110 processes or converts the information received from the sensor network 100, if necessary. That is, for example, in the case when the mobile communication terminal 120 requests sensor network services, the sensor network server 110 receives information corresponding to the sensor network service from the sensor network 100. Then, the sensor network server 110 processes or converts the information, and then provides the information to the mobile communication terminal 120.
[19] The mobile communication terminal 120 also reads information stored in a data storage medium 130 such as a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, a one- dimensional or two-dimensional bar code, or the like. In particular, the mobile communication terminal 120 obtains information stored in the RFID tag or the bar code by using an RFID reader or a bar code reader or a camera. In addition, the mobile communication terminal 120 can obtain information, which is stored in the form of an electronic document, through a wired/wireless communication network .
[20] The mobile communication terminal 120 generates a query message requesting position of the sensor network services, corresponding to the information read from the data storage medium 130. Then, the mobile communication terminal 120 transmits the generated query message to the code data providing device 140.
[21] The code data providing device 140 responds to the query message received from the mobile communication terminal 120 by transmitting a response message including the position data of the sensor network services to the mobile communication terminal 120. [22] For example, the position data of the sensor network services may be a uniform resource locator (URL), uniform resource identifier (URI), various addresses, or the like. The code data providing device 140 may be a domain name server (DNS), however the present invention is not limited thereto.
[23] The mobile communication terminal 120, which receives the response message from the code data providing device 140, requests the sensor network server 110 for the sensor network services, and then the mobile communication terminal 120 obtains the sensor network services according to the position data included in the response message.
[24] FIG. 2 is a block diagram of a sensor network service providing apparatus 200, according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 3 is a flowchart of a method of providing sensor network services, according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[25] Referring to FIG. 2, the sensor network service providing apparatus 200 includes a medium reading unit 210, a position data request unit 220, a position data receiving unit 230 and a service request unit 240. The sensor network service providing apparatus 200 may be used in a personal portable terminal such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistance (PDA), or the like.
[26] Hereinafter, respective elements of the sensor network service providing apparatus
200 will be described with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3.
[27] The medium reading unit 210 reads and translates information stored in a data storage medium such as an RFID tag, a bar code, or the like, and then the medium reading unit 210 obtains the information, (operation S300). In addition, the medium reading unit 210 can receive information, which is stored in the form of an electronic document, through a wired/wireless communication network.
[28] The position data request unit 220 generates a query message including the information obtained by the medium reading unit 210, and transmits the query message to the code data providing device 250 through a wired/wireless communication network (operation S310).
[29] The position data receiving unit 230 receives a response message, including position data of sensor network services, from the code data providing device 250 in response to the query message (S320). The code data providing device 250 may be a DNS, like in the case of the code data providing device 140 illustrated in FIG. 1. The code data providing device 250 generates the response message including the position data (e.g., URL or URI) of the sensor network services , and transmits the response message to the sensor network service providing apparatus 200, wherein the position data of the sensor network services corresponds to the information stored in the data storage medium . [30] The service request unit 240 is connected to a sensor network server 260 corresponding to the position data of the sensor network services included in the response message, and then the sensor network services can be provided (operation S330).
[31] The invention can also be embodied as computer readable codes on a computer readable recording medium. The computer readable recording medium is any data storage device that can store data which can be thereafter read by a computer system. Examples of the computer readable recording medium include read-only memory (ROM), random-access memory (RAM), CD-ROMs, magnetic tapes, floppy disks, optical data storage devices, and carrier waves (such as data transmission through the Internet). The computer readable recording medium can also be distributed over network coupled computer systems so that the computer readable code is stored and executed in a distributed fashion.
[32] While the present invention has been particularly shown and described with reference to exemplary embodiments thereof, it will be understood by one of ordinary skill in the art that various changes in form and details may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the following claims.
