Abstract

A device-using period management apparatus and a device-using period management method which can make a user avoid using of a device in excess of a previously set standard period by managing the using period of the device while the user only uses the device without caring previous user registration and user authentication in the case of using the device. The device-using period management apparatus has an image input part (12) which acquires user image information by imaging the whole or a part of the user's face in the middle of using the device, a feature analysis part (22) which extracts feature information from the user image information, a user database (50), a user collation part (26) for specifying the user, a user registration part (34) which records the feature information on a new user in the user database, a using period update/judgment part (38) which outputs a standard period excess signal when the using period of the device of each user exceeds the predetermined standard period, and an operation part (44) which carries out predetermined operation or issues an instruction to carry out the operation when receiving the standard period excess signal.
