Abstract

An optical element for optical pickup device applicable to a plurality of types of optical information recording medium performs highly accurate imaging by reducing aberration. The optical element performs information reproduction and recording from and to optical discs of two or more different types by a first objective lens section and a second objective lens section. In the optical element unit, a normal line of a second attaching reference surface or a normal line of a third attaching reference surface or a normal line of an optical surface top is inclined at a required inclination angle from a normal line of a first attaching reference surface. Thus, the optical element can be easily aligned and fixed to be in a status where the second objective lens section is inclined at a desired angle from the first objective lens section, and relative third coma aberration of the first objective lens section and the second objective lens section can be reduced.
