Abstract

The invention relates to a snowshoe (1) with means for retaining the shoe so that it can pivot upwards relative to the mesh (2) of the snowshoe about a transverse axis (X, X') substantially located at the front area of the shoe, and so that the user can lift the heel by pivoting from a normal lower position, i.e. standard use position of the snowshoe for walking on flat ground, and that comprises means for limiting the downward pivoting in order to define a lower position, said means including a pivoting bearing part (10) hinged on the snowshoe about a transverse axis so that, according to the invention, it can assume two positions, characterised in that the pivoting part (10) is in the form of a U-shaped calliper, the flanges of which are triangular walls with the summit thereof including the pivot axis while the upper angles of the triangle base are each connected by a crossbar, i.e. a front crossbar and a rear crossbar defining a free space between them.
