Abstract

Provided are an optical fiber holding device having sufficient holding force, cost effective, and simply reduced in size, an optical connector having the optical fiber holding device, and an optical fiber holding method. The optical fiber holding device (10) has a plate-like base (21) and elastic sections (22, 22) arranged integrally with the base (21) on its left and right sides. The base (21) has steps (23) on its left and right. The boundary (28) between the base (21) and each elastic section (22) is parallel to the step (23). Optical fiber holding spaces (24) for holding optical fibers (11) are formed at the left and right of the device, at positions that are along the steps (23) and are between the base (21) and each elastic section (22). The boundary (28) between the base (21) and each elastic section (22) is located on the opposite side of the optical fiber holding section (24) from the step (23), and the elastic section (22, 22) is urged about the boundary (28) as a pivot, in the direction of approaching the base (21), that is, in the direction of narrowing the optical fiber holding space (24).
