Abstract

Disclosed is a method wherein propylene is produced by bringing an alcohol raw material containing an ethyl alcohol and a butyl alcohol into contact with a catalyst which is obtained by loading a regular mesoporous body with one or more metals selected from the group consisting of nickel, aluminum, manganese, iron and copper. The regular mesoporous body preferably has a skeleton mainly composed of silica and a pore diameter of not less than 1.4 nm but not more than 10 nm. This method enables to continuously produce propylene with relatively high yield.
