Abstract

Disclosed is a polarizing plate which enables to attain high-quality display even when the screen size is increased. Also disclosed is a liquid crystal display device. Specifically disclosed is a polarizing plate comprising a polarizer and a film other than a polarizer which is arranged on at least one side of the polarizer. In this polarizing plate, the film contains a plurality of film portions arranged on the same side of the polarizer in such a manner that they are divided in the in-plane of the polarizer. The film is preferably a base and/or an optical functional layer. More preferably, the film is a base.
