SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING STEM CELL SERVICES USING INTERNET AND METHOD THEREOF
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a system for providing stem cell services using Internet and a method thereof, and more particularly, to a system for providing stem cell services using Internet and a method thereof, whereby stem cells of users, high-ranking officials, and star performers are stored in storage containers and then are provided to the users while the stem cells are kept in a dedicated stem cell library of a certificate authority, and thus the user can be provided with medical services through a routine medical examination.
Background Art:
Internet is an open network that connects computers around world via the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) . Via the Internet, users can not only transmit basic text information, but use various services, such as e-mail, file transfer, World Wide Web, which transmit multimedia information, with the development of compression technique. As the utilization of the Internet is rapidly increased worldwide, the importance of the Internet is increased as strategic measures for enhancing the efficiency and productivity throughout the existing industries. Consequently, the opportunity for new business is continuously created through the Internet, and the business region is tending upwards. Specifically, several sites providing various contents, such as Internet advertisement, Internet broadcasting, online game, Internet newspaper/magazine, search service, portal service, electronic commerce, and so forth, are rapidly increased. Stem cells issued in recent are unspecialized cells that have the capacity to give rise to every cell type of the body and to form all organs. The primary function is to replenish cells lost from normal turnover or disease in the specific organs and tissues in which they are found. Researches on medical application (e.g., replication of damaged tissues) are in progress, and there are embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells as typical examples.
Embryonic stem cells are unspecialized cells derived at the growing course of embryo and having the capacity to give rise to every cell type of the body. After an ovule is combined with a sperm to form a fertilized egg, the fertilized egg consisting of one cell becomes a blastocyst consisting of several cells through cell division. A mass of cells (called as inner cell mass) is inside the blastocyst. The cells develop into an embryo after cell division and differentiation, and the embryo is reached a distinctively recognizable form during a gestation. In this course, the cells of the inner cell mass are differentiated into any cell of all organs of an entire organism, such as blood, bones, skins, liver, and so forth. Such an inner cell mass is separate from the blastocyst, and then is cultured in a special circumstance, thereby creasing a cell which is not differentiated any more but has the ability to differentiate into every cell types, which is called as embryonic stem cell. The embryonic stem cells have the special property of being able to differentiate into virtually every cell type. Theoretically, the embryonic stem cells can be cell-divided indefinitely. If cells of a patient are defective or degenerated, researches and therapies have been in progress in which the embryonic stem cells are genetically manipulated in vitro and are transplanted into embryos and adults. Adult stem cells are cells found throughout the body that divide to replenish dying cells and regenerate damaged tissues. In particular, the adult stem cells are undifferentiated cells have the capacity to give rise to every cell type of the body and to form all organs. It was known that the adult stem cells extracted from one tissue are differentiated into cells of that tissue, but it is reported recently that the adult stem cells can be differentiated into a cell of other tissue.
For example, the adult stem cells can be differentiated into a neuron, a muscle cell, a fat cell, and so forth, according to research results. Unlike embryonic stem cells, the use of the adult stem cells in research and therapy is not controversial because the production of adult stem cells does not require the destruction of an embryo, that is, the adult stem cells are directly obtained from a patient to be cured, and the adult stem cells derived from the patient are not rejected by the patient's immune system.
In case the stem cells are directly extracted from the body, the stem cells are likely polluted or aged. It is preferable, therefore, that the stem cells are extracted and kept as young as possible. However, people have little understanding of the above matter. Also, there is another problem in that since the stem cells are directly obtained from a patient, it is cumbersome for the people to take a medical examination to prevent and cure diseases.

If the user wants to keep the stem cells in the dedicated storage, the user selects keeping of the stem cells in the dedicated storage of the certificate authority to provide the user with medical services through a routine medical examination (S314). After the user selects the stem cells of the high- ranking official or star performer and the storage container, data obtained by taking an image of the process of creating and extracting the stem cells through proliferation and change, subculturing the extracted stem cells, adjusting the stem cells according to the storage container, such as accessories, personal ornaments, jewels, time capsules, and so forth, and keeping the stem cells in the selected container may be broadcasted through the Internet or produced as a CD. In case of the user's stem cells, it may take an image of the process of creating and extracting the stem cells through proliferation and change, subculturing the extracted stem cells, adjusting the stem cells according to the storage container, such as accessories, personal ornaments, jewels, time capsules, and so forth, and keeping the stem cells in the selected container in real time, and may broadcast the image through the Internet, or the image may be produced as a CD (S316) .
If the stem cells are kept in the storage container for storing accessories, personal ornaments, jewels, time capsules, and so forth, or the dedicated liquid nitrogen container of the certificate authority, the certificate authority (e.g., Korea Stem Cell Bank) allocates the kept stem cells with a serial number, issues a deposit certificate and a value certificate authenticating the value of the deposit certificate, and then stores the associated data in the database (S318) .
The stem cells kept in the storage container for storing accessories, personal ornaments, jewels, time capsules, and so forth, are delivered to the user, so that the user carries the storage container. The stem cells kept in the stem cell library of the certificate authority provide the user with medial services through a routine medical examination, and the user continuously manages the stem cells via the Internet (S320) .
The forgoing embodiment is merely exemplary and is not to be construed as limiting the present invention. The present teachings can be readily applied to other types of apparatuses.
