Abstract

Disclosed is an internal combustion engine (1) for a motor vehicle, comprising a number of combustion chambers (4) which are disposed in a common engine block (2) that can be cooled by means of a cooling system (20). The aim of the invention is to be able to operate said internal combustion engine (1) at a particularly high overall efficiency. Said aim is achieved by designing a cooler unit (22) of the cooling system (20) as an evaporative cooler, said cooler unit (22) being assigned to the engine block (2).
