Abstract
The present invention relates to an elastic body- supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device that includes a hook for hooking an elastic body like a NiTi coil spring thereon so as to provide an orthodontic force to the orthodontic device and a fastening part adapted to be fixed to an orthodontic wire by means of a pliers holder formed thereon so as to provide easiness in use of a pair of pliers, such that when the hook structure is taken by the pliers and fixed to the orthodontic wire, it is not slipped and escaped from the pliers, thereby enhancing an orthodontic efficiency.

Description
THE SUPPORT DEVICE OF ELASTIC BODY FOR ORTHODONTICS
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to an elastic body- supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device, and more particularly, to an elastic body-supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device that includes a hook for hooking an elastic body like a NiTi coil spring thereon so as to provide an orthodontic force to the orthodontic device and a fastening part adapted to be fixed to an orthodontic wire by means of a pliers holder formed thereon so as to provide easiness in use of a pair of pliers, such that when the hook structure is taken by the pliers and fixed to the orthodontic wire, it is not slipped and escaped from the pliers, thereby enhancing an orthodontic efficiency. Background Art
[2] Upon the correction of irregularities of the teeth, generally, as shown in FIG.1, a bracket 2 is attached to each of the teeth 1 and an orthodontic wire 4 is inserted into the bracket, while being fixed by a clipping band 3. On the other hand, an elastic body 6 like NiTi coil spring, a rubber band, and so on is hooked between a micro-implant 5 planted into an alveolar bone under the consideration of the correction direction and the orthodontic force and a hook 8 of the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 fixed to the bracket 2, thereby moving the teeth 1 to a desired correction direction.
[3] The conventional elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 as used in the correction of irregularities of the teeth includes the hook 8 adapted to hook the elastic body 6 like NiTi coil spring thereon and a fastening part 9 adapted to be fixed to the orthodontic wire 4, as shown in FIG.2.
[4] The fastening part 9 has a connection portion 10, a base portion 11 and a pressing portion 12 respectively protruded toward the top and bottom sides of the connection portion 10, a fastening groove 13 formed between the base portion 11 and the pressing portion 12 so as to fixedly insert the orthodontic wire 4 thereto, and inward locking protrusions 14 and 15 formed facing each other at the ends of the base portion 11 and the pressing portion 12 for preventing escape of the fastening part 9 from the orthodontic wire 4.
[5] A pair of dental pliers 16 are used, as shown in FIGS.3 and 4, when the orthodontic wire 4 is fixedly inserted into the elastic body-supporting hook structure 7, the dental pliers 16 including upper pliers portions 17 having a groove defined therebetween, for inserting the hook 8 of the elastic body-supporting hook structure 7 thereinto and a
lower pliers portion 18 adapted to be held between the upper pliers portions 17.
[6] In this case, the fastening part 9 of the conventional elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 has a substantially small width in a range of lmm to 2mm, and the pressing portion 12 is inclinedly formed so as to easily fix the hook structure 7 to the orthodontic wire 4. As a result, when the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 is taken by the pliers 16 or after taken thereby, the elastic body-supporting hook structure 7 is likely to be slipped and escaped from the pliers 16, thereby making it difficult to insertedly fix the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 to the orthodontic wire 4. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[7] Accordingly, the present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and it is an object of the present invention to provide an elastic body- supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device that is capable of providing easiness in use of a pair of pliers, such that after the elastic body- supporting hook structure is taken by the pliers, it is not slipped and escaped at all from the pliers, thereby enhancing an orthodontic efficiency thereof. Technical Solution
[8] To accomplish the above object, according to the present invention, there is provided an elastic body- supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device a hook adapted to hook an orthodontic elastic body thereon and a fastening part adapted to be fixed to an orthodontic wire, the fastening part having a connection portion, a base portion and a pressing portion respectively protruded from the top and bottom faces of the connection portion, a fastening groove formed between the base portion and the pressing portion for fixedly inserting the orthodontic wire thereto, and inward locking protrusions formed facing each other at the ends of the base portion and the pressing portion for preventing escape of the orthodontic wire from the fastening part, wherein the fastening part has a pliers holder formed at the bottom portion of the pressing portion thereof, the pliers holder having protrusions protruded toward the both sides thereof from the pressing portion and a slipping-prevention groove defined by the protrusions, for fittably inserting a lower pliers portion of a pair of pliers thereto, thereby preventing the elastic body- supporting hook structure from being slipped from the pliers when the elastic body- supporting hook structure is taken by the pliers or after taken thereby.
Advantageous Effects
[9] This invention discloses an elastic body-supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device that includes a hook for hooking an elastic body like a NiTi coil spring thereon so as to provide an orthodontic force to the orthodontic device and a
fastening part adapted to be fixed to an orthodontic wire and having a pliers holder formed thereon so as to provide easiness in use of a pair of pliers, such that when the hook structure is taken by the pliers and fixed to the orthodontic wire, it is not slipped and escaped at all from the pliers, thereby enhancing an orthodontic efficiency thereof.

Mode for the Invention [19] Hereinafter, an explanation of the configuration of an elastic body- supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device according to the present invention will be given with reference to the attaching drawings. [20] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, by the way, the same parts in the conventional practice are indicated by the same reference numerals, and a detailed explanation of the related known configurations and functions will be avoided for the brevity of the description. [21] The elastic body- supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention is characterized in that a pliers holder is provided at a pressing portion of a fastening part, such that when the elastic body- supporting hook structure is taken by a pair of dental pliers, it is not slipped and escaped at all from the pliers.
[22] As mentioned above, the elastic body-supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a hook 8 adapted to hook an elastic body 6 like a NiTi coil spring thereon and a fastening part 9 adapted to be fixed to an orthodontic wire 4.
[23] The fastening part 9 has a connection portion 10, a base portion 11 and a pressing portion 12 respectively protruded toward the top and bottom sides of the connection portion 10, a fastening groove 13 formed between the base portion 11 and the pressing portion 12 for fixedly inserting the orthodontic wire 4 thereto, and inward locking protrusions 14 and 15 formed facing each other at the ends of the base portion 11 and the pressing portion 12 for preventing escape of the fastening part 9 from the orthodontic wire 4.
[24] According to the present invention, the elastic body-supporting hook structure 7 is provided with a pliers holder 19 that is adapted to help the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 taken easily by a pair of dental pliers 16 and thus to prevent the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 from being escaped from the pliers 6. FIG.6 is a perspective view showing an elastic body- supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIGs.7 and 8 are front and bottom views showing the elastic body-supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device according to the present invention.
[25] The pliers holder 19 is formed at the pressing portion 12 of the fastening part 9 of the elastic body-supporting hook structure 7 and has first and second protrusions 20 and 21 protruded toward the both sides thereof and a slipping-prevention groove 22 defined by the protrusions 20 and 21, such that when the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 is taken by the pliers 16 or after taken thereby, it is not slipped from the pliers 16.
[26] The both side protrusions 20 and 21 of the pliers holder 19 have a relatively small front portion and a relatively large rear portion, such that they have the same shape as the pliers 16, and thus, when the lower pliers portion 18 of the pliers 16 is inserted into the slipping-prevention groove 22, the hook structure 7 is rigidly taken by the pliers 16.
[27] The slipping-prevention groove 22 of the pliers holder 19 formed on the pressing portion 12 may have various shapes like triangle, square, semi-circle, and so on in accordance with the shape of the pliers 16.
[28] Of course, the slipping-prevention groove 22 of the pliers holder 19 may be formed just on the pressing portion 12, without having any protrusions 20 and 21, but as the thickness of the pressing portion 12 is substantially thin in a range of 0.3mm to 0.6mm, the protrusions 20 and 21 are formed desirably on the pressing portion 12 so as to form the slipping-prevention groove 22 therefrom.
[29] Moreover, the pliers holder 19 may be applied to an elastic body-supporting hook
structure 7 having a plurality of hooks 8 for hooking the elastic body 6 thereon, as shown in FIG.10.
[30] So as to insertedly fix the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 to the orthodontic wire 4, if the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 is taken by the pliers 16, as shown in FIG.9, the upper pliers portions 17 of the pliers 16 having the groove adapted to insert the hook 8 thereto are supported by the base portion 11 of the fastening part 9, and the lower pliers portion 18 is fitted to the slipping-prevention groove 22 of the pliers holder 19 formed on the pressing portion 12, while being rigidly supported by the both side protrusions 20 and 21, such that the elastic body- supporting hook structure 7 is not slipped and escaped at all from the pliers 16.
Claims
[1] An elastic body- supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device having a hook (8) adapted to hook an orthodontic elastic body (6) thereon and a fastening part (9) adapted to be fixed to an orthodontic wire (4), the fastening part (9) having a connection portion (10), a base portion (11) and a pressing portion (12) respectively protruded from the top and bottom sides of the connection portion (10), a fastening groove (13) formed between the base portion (11) and the pressing portion (12) for fixedly inserting the orthodontic wire (4) thereto, and inward locking protrusions (14 and 15) formed facing each other at the ends of the base portion (11) and the pressing portion (12) for preventing escape of the orthodontic wire (4) from the fastening part (9), wherein the fastening part (9) has a pliers holder (19) formed at the bottom portion of the pressing portion (12) thereof, the pliers holder (19) having protrusions (20 and 21) protruded toward the both sides thereof from the pressing portion (12) and a slipping-prevention groove (22) defined by the protrusions (20 and 21), for fittably inserting a lower pliers portion (18) of a pair of pliers (16) thereto.
[2] The elastic body-supporting hook structure for use in an orthodontic device ac cording to claim 1, wherein the slipping-prevention groove (22) of the pliers holder (19) has a relatively small front portion and a relatively large rear portion.
