Abstract

Disclosed is a particle for a display medium, which is a spherical resin microparticle having a positively charged functional group on its surface, wherein the spherical resin microparticle is produced by polymerizing a monomer with an initiator having a positively charged functional group, and wherein the initiator is produced by reacting both ends of an azo initiator having a cationic functional group containing a nitrogenated heterocyclic ring or a nitrogenated aliphatic moiety with an organic alkyl sulfonate. Alternatively, the particle for a display medium is a spherical resin microparticle having a charged or ionic functional group on its surface, wherein the spherical resin microparticle is produced by polymerizing a monomer with an initiator having a charged or ionic functional group at both ends.
