Abstract

This invention provides a phase difference film which, even in a thin film form, has excellent heat resistance and fastness, and a polarizing plate produced by using the phase difference film and a liquid crystal panel. The phase difference film is characterized in that it is a cyclic olefinic polymer film having a thickness of not more than 30 μm and, when the tensile force in the yield point in a tensile test in a direction perpendicular within a plane to the maximum refractive index direction within the film plane using a dumbbell No. 2 test specimen according to JIS K 7127 and K 7161 is not less than 8 N.
