Abstract

Disclosed is a method for efficiently producing a nano-sized phosphor which emits fluorescent light with high luminance when irradiated with ultraviolet light. Specifically disclosed is a method wherein a solution (1) is obtained by adding a complex-forming compound to an yttrium compound and a compound of a rare earth metal other than yttrium in the presence of water, a solution or dispersion (2) is obtained by dissolving or dispersing a vanadium compound in water, and then the solution (1) and the solution or dispersion (2) are mixed and reacted with each other.
