Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the selective contour-sharp transfer of at least one functional layer (16), such as a colour layer, from a carrier layer (14) of an embossing film (10) to a substrate (12) by means of an intensive light beam, preferably a laser beam (20). The invention also relates to an embossing film (10) which at least to a great extent absorbs the intensive light or laser beam (20) so that the intensive light or laser beam (20) becomes effective at the at least one functional layer (16), such as a colour layer, in such a way that the functional layer (16) is transferred to the substrate (12) in a contour-sharp and selective manner.
