Abstract

A combined preform and blow moulding apparatus (10) has at least two processing stations (12, 14, 16) arranged one above another, including an upper, preform moulding station (12) having a preform moulding cavity (18a) and a lower, blow moulding station (14) having a blow moulding cavity (26). The cavities (18a, 26) being interconnected by means of an internal passageway (18) and the apparatus further comprising a transport system (32, 42, 42, 66) for moving a preform (49) downwardly from the upper, preform moulding cavity (18a) to the blow moulding cavity (26) along the passageway. The apparatus may also include an intermediate processing station (16) in which the preform (49) may be retained for cooling/normalization prior to being transported to the blow moulding station (14).
