Abstract

Document reader apparatus (100) capable of, at reading, assigning a file name enabling recall of the contents of document read. The document reader apparatus (100) comprises document reading means (120) for reading a document and generating read data; marking area extracting means (130) for extracting any marking area produced by marking in the document from the contents of the read data; character segmentation means (140) for segmenting characters within the marking area having been extracted by the marking area extracting means (130); character recognizing means (150) for recognizing any characters having been segmented by the character segmentation means (140); and control means (101) for assigning any characters having been recognized by the character recognizing means (150) as a file name of read data having been generated by the document reading means (120).
